	Gear Down
Gear Down was designed for the original exhibition space - a former gatehouse in Cologne. It emphasizes the contrast between the small building and the larger area of the adjacent parking lot and the associated garage doors. The gates are reflected from the outside in the window of the cabin and are continued in the interior on a paper banner in a painterly manner. Depicted in black and white and initially transferred realistically, the lines become independent in the course of the banner. The painted keyhole becomes larger and larger until on the opposite side of the window through the now wall-sized keyhole, the garage doors can be again recognised realistically painted. On this endless loop one discovers colourful, figurative paintings and their imprints.The title Gear down is taken from the language of aviation. It describes the moment when the decision to land is made, the landing gear is extended and the landing is initiated.

Banners partly wallpapered on the wall, partly hanging freely in the room, ink of different colours on and between tissue papers, glued in three to four layers, approx 170 x 1600 cm, 2018

	The Ceiling Piece
Nine paper sheets are installed in parallel about one yard beneath the ceiling of the space. They overlap gently and form a layer that covers the entire ceiling. The result is a soft and irregular white surface with painted black lines on top of it. The lines alternate between abstract forms and figurative expressions.After focusing on the faces for too long, one is forced to look away, as the body has become dizzy due to the rather unnatural way of standing and tilting the head backwards. What remains is the memory of what you have seen only a few minutes before.

	Gear Down
Gear Down wurde für den Ausstellungsraum - ein ehemaliges Pförtnerhäuschen in Köln - konzipiert. Die Arbeit nimmt den Kontrast des kleinen Gebäudes zu der Fläche des angrenzenden Parkplatzes und der dazugehörigen Garagentore auf. Die Tore spiegeln sich von außen in dem Fenster des Häuschens und werden im Innenraum auf einem Papierbanner malerisch weitergeführt. In Schwarzweiß gehalten und zuerst realistisch übernommen, verselbständigen sich die Linien im Laufe des Banners. Das gemalte Schlüsselloch eines der Tore scheint immer größer zu werden, bis auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite des Fensters, durch das nun wandgrosse Schlüsselloch die Garagentore wieder realistisch abgebildet, erkennbar sind. Auf dieser schwarzweissen Endlosschleife entdeckt man einzelne farbige, figurative Bilder und deren Abdrücke.Der Titel Gear down entspringt der Fliegersprache und beschreibt den Moment, wenn die Entscheidung zur Landung gefällt, das Fahrwerk des Flugzeuges ausgefahren und die Landung eingeleitet wurde.

	The Ceiling Piece
Neun Papierbögen sind parallel etwa einen Meter unterhalb der Decke des Raumes installiert. Sie überlappen sich leicht und bilden eine Schicht, welche sich über die gesamte Decke zieht. Es&#38;nbsp;entsteht eine weiche und unregelmäßige Oberfläche. Die schwarzen gemalten Linien auf den&#38;nbsp;Bögen wechseln zwischen abstrakten Formen und figurativen Ausdrücken.Nachdem die aus den Linien entstehenden Gesichter zu lange fokussiert wurden, ist man gezwungen, wegzusehen. Denn, die eher unnatürliche Art des Stehens und Sehens verursacht bei der Mehrheit des Publikums ein Schwindelgefühl. Was dann bleibt, ist die Erinnerung an das, was man nur wenige Sekunden und Minuten zuvor gesehen hat.
